The aftercare of your fresh ink is absolutely crucial, but let’s face it—your mate, your nan, or even your dog won’t be the best advisors on this.

Our golden rule? Keep it clean, keep it creamed! 🧼✨

Peruse this guide to get all the information you need to keep your new Tattoo safe, clean and pristine!

Traditional Method

Keep it clean! Keep it creamed!

Step 1:

A Few Hours After You Get Home

  • 1. Wash your hands with unscented soap before unwrapping your tattoo. Expect some oozing – it’s normal!
  • 2. Use a clean paper towel to gently wipe off the oozing.
  • 3. Rinse the tattoo thoroughly with a bit of soap on your hands.
  • 4. Gently wash the tattooed area with warm soapy water and rinse well. Allow the skin to air dry or pat it dry gently.

Remember, it’s essential to use a soap that’s safe for your healing skin.

Our studio offers solid soap bars designed specifically for this purpose.

Step 2:

Dry Skin? Moisturize!

  • 1. Once your skin is drier than an old flip flop, gently massage your chosen aftercare moisturizer into the skin.
  • 2. Apply a thin, even layer to the new tattoo. Don’t overdo it! Applying too much moisturizer can suffocate the skin and prolong the healing process.

Our aftercare butters and balms are perfect for this!

Step 3:

Repeat, Repeat, Repeat!

  • 1. You need to repeat this process 2-3 times a day for the first 2-3 weeks or so.
  • 2. Always wash the tattoo before applying new moisturizer. This ensures you don’t trap dirt or anything on your lovely, smooth skin & new tattoo.
  • 3. During the healing process, you may experience a peeling stage. Don’t fret, this is normal and can be itchy. Resist the urge to pick or scratch!
  • 4. Once the peeling has subsided, continue applying moisturizer throughout the day for the foreseeable future. This will enhance the vibrancy and longevity of your new artwork.

Keep in Mind:

Getting a tattoo is an invasive procedure, and your tattoo is essentially a fresh wound.

Always wash your hands before touching it during the healing process, and avoid letting others touch it too.

Additional Advice

Instructions for Your Tattoo:

To ensure your tattoo heals beautifully and stands the test of time, please follow these important guidelines:

  • 1. Avoid crowded nightclubs and excessive drinking: 🚫🍻 These environments increase the risk of infections for fresh tattoos. Let’s keep your tattoo safe and sound!
  • 2. Resist the itch, no scratching: It’s normal for your tattoo to itch during the healing process. However, scratching can introduce bacteria and hinder the healing. Be patient and resist the urge!
  • 3. Don’t pick or pull at flaking/scabbing skin: Allow your tattooed skin to naturally shed and heal. Picking or pulling can cause fading, delay the healing process, and even lead to infections.
  • 4. Keep pets away from your tattoo: 🐶🐱 As much as we love our furry friends, their contact with your fresh tattoo can introduce unwanted bacteria. Keep them at a safe distance to ensure a healthy healing process.
  • 5. Avoid swimming for 2 weeks: Give your tattoo time to heal without exposing it to chlorine in pools or bacteria in natural bodies of water. Keep it clean and dry for optimal healing.
  • 6. Protect from direct sunlight: ☀️⛱️ For 4-6 weeks after getting inked, shield your tattoo from direct sunlight. The sun can damage tattoo pigments and cause fading. Once healed, apply sunblock to maintain its vibrancy.

By following these aftercare instructions, you’ll give your tattoo the best chance to heal beautifully.

Derma Film

Our Tattoo Artists will most likely do this for you first after the tattoo session has finished. If done correctly this method can greatly speed up the healing process.

Application:

  • Step 1: Clean and dry the tattooed area.
  • Step 2: Cut the Derma roll to desired length. Peel off protective paper and apply the film to skin. Ensure the film is pressed down all over.
  • Step 3: Peel back the removable layer taking care not to remove the film underneath.

The Derma film can be left on for several days, allowing the tattoo to fully heal.

If you wish to remove and re apply the film please repeat these steps.
